POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Facilities and Operations, the Manager, Facilities Operations, is responsible for the day-to-day management of campus operations at the Sharp HealthCare Performance Center, including environmental services (EVS), security, residential support, and event operations.

The Manager, Facilities Operations, is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operational management of campus facilities, environmental services, security, residential support operations, and vendor services across the Sharp HealthCare Performance Center in El Cajon. This role ensures all athletic, academic, residential, and administrative facilities are safe, secure, clean, and operating efficiently while delivering a high-quality experience for athletes, students, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational expertise, exceptional customer service instincts, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. This position plays a critical role in supporting athlete performance, residential life, and the overall campus experience for students, staff, and visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations & Facilities Management

  • Lead the daily operation of campus facilities, ensuring all athletic, residential, academic, dining, and administrative spaces are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs, work order systems, and facility inspections to ensure operational reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor facility conditions and proactively identify maintenance, safety, and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure timely response and resolution of facility-related requests and service issues.
  • Support campus readiness for training activities, residential occupancy, special events, and organizational initiatives.
  • Coordinate room turnovers, residential maintenance activities, and campus operational transitions.
  • Oversee vendor and contractor performance, ensuring quality, safety, and service expectations are met.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, scheduling, and performance management for Security and EVS personnel.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures for all team members.
  • Develop staff capabilities through training, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of service excellence, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage across shifts, weekends, holidays, events, and emergency situations.

Security & Safety

  • Oversee campus security operations, including access control, incident response, emergency preparedness, and policy enforcement.
  • Partner with leadership to maintain a safe and secure environment for athletes, students, staff, and visitors.
  • Lead safety inspections, incident investigations, corrective action planning, and compliance efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and all applicable safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of facilities, hospitality, property, campus, or operations management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct people leadership experience.
  • Strong hospitality, residential, facilities, or property operations backgrounds Experience managing multiple operational functions such as maintenance, housekeeping/EVS, security, or facilities services.
  • Knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance practices, and facility operations.
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and facility management or work order systems.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CMMS platforms and preventative maintenance programs.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 operations and residential environments.
