Job Summary

Associate Editors will lead ClutchPoints’ day-to-day news desk editorial coverage of all things sports. They will plan, write, and edit timely and engaging content in a fast-paced environment alongside their editorial team members. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the 24/7 sports news cycle and various digital sports platforms for distributing content.

Duties

• Identify content opportunities to maximize real-time traffic utilizing our internal content strategy and identification guide
• Write trending real-time news articles on all major sports
• Ideate more in-depth opinion editorial topics based on trending news stories
• Communicate with editorial team to optimize SEO-winning search headlines and story composition
• Communicate with graphics team on creative thumbnails for your content
• Send published articles for distribution to our social media channels
• Edit long-form content from the news desk editorial writing team
• Follow our breaking news protocol to quickly capitalize on the stories in real-time
• Track Google Trends for content ideas beyond the sports we cover in-depth (NBA and NFL)

Basic Qualifications

• Proficiency with SEO
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with editorial and content creation
• Passion and advanced understanding of the major sports and leagues (NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL)
• Understanding of trending sports news and how to craft stories/headlines to capitalize on those moments
• Flexible schedule with availability on nights and weekends
• Ability to create forward thinking evergreen content
• Ability to multitask multiple objective
